Livingston County residents can have their dogs, cats, and ferrets vaccinated against rabies for free on Wed., April 22nd, from 5-7 p.m. at 4 Corners Campus, 4277 Avon-Caledonia Rd. (corner of River Road and Route 5).
Pre-registration is required for all participants. You can register at www.livingstoncounty.us/932/Rabies-Clinics
Pets must be at least three months old to receive the vaccine. Ferrets must be vaccinated yearly. Cats and ferrets are required to arrive in a carrier and dogs must be leashed at all times. Anyone vaccinating more than five pets at one time should call the Department of Health at 585-243-7280.
By law, all domestic cats, dogs and ferrets must be vaccinated against the rabies virus. Health Department officials say failure to vaccinate pets can lead to a significant fine for the owner and leaves the animal vulnerable to a fatal disease.
